Why exercise outdoors

While their intentions are good it is true to say that most people lose motivation by Easter and the resolutions have been forgotten about.
This usually happens when resolutions are too extreme or the person attempts to make a big change without support or any thought about how to tackle challenging situations.
The key to making successful changes involves pre-empting challenging situations before they arise. For example, working out how to avoid difficult situations where everyone goes out for a cigarette when you are trying to stop smoking. Or how to tackle the friends who enjoy eating lots of cakes and fattening foods and won?t support you on your diet.
It is also helpful to keep reminding yourself why you are making these changes to your lifestyle. Mostly it is about improving our health and self-esteem, so making friends with like-minded people will be encouraging rather than discouraging will not only help but make your new routine more fun.
It is also important to remind yourself that the people who don?t support you and sabotage you instead are probably feeling jealous and confronted by your new behaviour.
Exercising outdoors is an easy and quick way to improving your health ? mental and physical ? boosting your self-esteem and helping improve your fitness.
There are so many different ways to exercise outdoors from taking a simple walk in the park to mountain-biking. Before starting a new exercise regime, consider what outdoor clothing you need to keep yourself dry and comfortable and if you require additional technical clothing.
Outdoor clothing such as proper footwear, gloves and hats is essential for hobbies and exercise undertaken in winter weather, while technical clothing can be just as useful in warm and cold conditions – sunburn is just as deadly as hypothermia.
Ensure you are properly equipped and your new exercise regime could be the best thing you have ever done.

Re new cyclists and punctures etc?
I have recently bought a mountain bike for fitness reasons. although there are cycling clubs in croydon where I live i need to go to somewhere local in order to know how to do basic maintenance of a bike esp re punctures of which I have had two so far. no other friends know anything about bikes and i wondered where i can go to sort this out so i can be self-sufficient with regards to this a kind of local class or bike scheme which covers this would be helpful. Anyone know of a place locally. I now hav a puncutre so cant use my bike!

You might want to focus on puncture prevention. These two things have kept me puncture-free for the past 3 years:
- Keep your tires properly inflated. Underinflated tires often get pinch flats, where the flattened tire pinches the inner tube against the wheel rim and ruptures the tube.
- Use puncture-resistant kevlar-lined tires. The ones I’ve been using are Specialized Armadilloes.
