whats a sensible workout?

I’m a fairly fit, young looking 48 year old. I dont smoke, eat healthily and I go to the gym 3 or4 times a week, I usually do 20 minutes cycle, 15-20 minutes rowing machine, 10 mins cross trainer and 10 minutes uphill walking, ending in a few weights and stretching. I can manage this comfortably however reading another post on here earlier made me wonder if I should be slowing down at my age. I am slightly overweight, but not by much … is this amount of exercise too much for someone my age?

Answer
Nah, exercise is good for you; sounds like you are taking great care of yourself. You could possibly cut it back a little bit. You could workout 5 days a week and cut your workout load back a little bit. I work out a lot, but I am 26. Hell, I’ve been known to run 10 miles nonstop on a treadmill. I love to push my body to the max. I get a runner’s high and just a general fitness high. It sounds like you are doing the same. Way to go. It’s good for you mentally and physically. If you are that worried about it, ask a personal trainer or maybe ask your doctor. Good Luck.
