Smart Exercise Tips to Accelerate Weight Loss

Are you ready to lose weight and get fit?
It seems like people will do nearly anything to lose weight. You see stories all the time of people going under the knife for surgical procedures simply to lose a few pounds. Of course, some people, in extreme scenarios can benefit from surgical procedures in order to get to a healthy weight. Most of us, though, don’t need to get that drastic. In fact, if you take the time to implement a few simple fitness and exercise tips into your daily life, you could be losing weight at a rapid pace. It only takes a few, small changes to result in some substantial weight loss.
Here are some quick tips to help you lose some unwanted body fat:
• Start doing resistance training. Bodies with more muscle are better able to lose fat. Don’t worry about becoming “muscle bound” or getting “too big.” You have to do a lot more than hit the weight room a few days a week for either of those things to occur.
• Cut out the junk food. If you eat out at a fast food restaurant just a few days a week, you are probably eating some meals that are very calorically dense, with very little good nutrition. Cut out these trips to the fast food restaurants and pack a healthy lunch instead. Not only will you lose some weight, but you’ll save some money too.
• Go on some weekend hikes. Cross country hikes in a local park can be a great ways to unwind after a difficult week at the office. Hiking is very intense exercise that will help you take off the pounds too. The best thing about hiking is it doesn’t seem like traditional exercise, so it can be a lot more enjoyable than simply going to the gym.
• Get a bike. Cycling can be one of the best forms of exercise there is. Your joints will not receive the pounding they would running and just like hiking you get to see more of your surroundings.
• Take up gardening as a hobby. Even if you don’t have a green thumb, you can get some real benefits from starting a vegetable garden. You can grow some healthy foods in your own back yard, and get some extra physical exercise while you do it. An hour of gardening is great exercise and will help you lose weight faster. You’ll also end up with some tasty vegetables to eat.
Try to add these simple fitness extras into your regular routine. Changing a few things in your normal activities will help you lose weight and increase your fitness levels. You don’t have to take drastic steps to get in better shape. Try adding one of these ideas a week for the next month and see how much better you will look and feel as a result.

I always find that if I don’t know I’m exercising, I’m doing it better. Hiking, rafting, dancing- it’s all a lot more fun than sitting on a machine like a hamster!

If I’m doing a lot of cardio already should I switch it up with biking and hiking or are those more like occasional substitutes for my running or elliptical work?

Hi,
Biking or hiking can be used instead of or as well as running or elliptical work.
As a general rule if you are training for a particular sport then you would lean towards that sport in your training.
If you are doing cardio for general fitness then spice it up by changing things round constantly.
No matter what you do though, you need to get out of your comfort zone and push your body with ever increasing workloads.
Don’t take my word over your doctors if you have any health issues you should consult with your medical practitioner before increasing your workload.
