Zephyrhills is a suburban city in the Tampa Bay area. The approximately 11,000 people who live here enjoy mild winter temperatures. Activities that seniors will find especially interesting include the Zephyrhills World War II Barracks Museum and the twice-yearly AutoFest, which features hundreds of vintage automobiles. More adventurous elders may want to try sky diving at SkyCity, one of the nation’s largest sky diving centers.

Carefree RV Resorts owns two age-qualified resorts located within minutes of each other in the South Zephyrhills district; Rainbow Village RV Resort and Southern Charm RV Resort. As a nationwide company, Carefree manages over 50 different luxury resorts that appeal to active seniors who enjoy outdoor activities, social groups and participating in special evens. Rainbow Village is a slightly larger and more active park, with 382 individual sites as opposed to Southern Charm, which has just 272 sites. Rainbow Village also has a large concert hall that hosts top-name entertainers, while Southern Charm only has a community room for dances and bingo events.

In West Zephyrhills, a regional company named Central Equities Mobile Home Communities and RV Parks owns and manages Tree Lane Village. This RV and mobile home park is located west of the downtown area near Wesley Chapel, a new community with all major services and shopping experiences. Golfers will appreciate how the park is located near Silverado Golf and Country Club as well as Betmar Acres Golf Club. Potential residents of Tree Lane Village can rent a space for the season or the year, and enjoy activities ranging from swimming in a year-round heated pool to billiards. When winter snowbird residents leave for the year, park management can help to rent their empty house to temporary renters.

The northern area of Zephyrhills, the age-restricted community of Sleepy Hollow Mobile Estates and RV park allows guests a choice of living in a pet-friendly half of the park, or the other half that prohibits pets. Sleepy Hollow is a Resident Owned Community with a board of directors responsible for making oversight decisions. The park is close to the Florida Hospital Zephyrhills, a movie cinema complex and shopping. Another nearby option located one block away is Country Oaks RV Park, a pet-friendly community in a shady, park-like setting that welcomes motor homes, travel trailers and park models for daily, seasonal or permanent living.

This southern part of Zephyrhills is located between the city limits and the community of Wesley Chapel South. There are two large senior citizen RV parks located along State Road 54, which crosses Interstate 75: Ralph’s Travel Park and Leisure Days RV Resort. Both parks are activity-oriented communities with daily planned activities, large swimming pools and recreation rooms. Both allow pets, and the Leisure Days community specifically welcomes children to visit with adult supervision.

RVers who want to be closer to Dade City should visit Baker Acres RV Resort or Water’s Edge RV Resort, both owned and managed by the Carefree RV Resorts corporation. Both parks are within Zephyrhills city limits and convenient to medical facilities, services and the Zephyrhills Supercenter, which features Super WalMart, Lowe’s Home Improvement Center and Chili’s Bar and Grill. Water’s Edge RV Resort is a pet-friendly community and the smaller of the two parks, with 217 full hookup sites versus the 355 at Baker Acres.
