How fast to build up cycling to work?
Hi all. I started cycling into work in London – around 13 miles – back in December (through winter!!) . I’ve been 4 doingjourneys a week – ie. I cycle in Monday, then leave the bike overnight and cycle back home the next day. Ive done this because I was EXTREMELY unfit before hand! Ideally I would like to cycle in and back everyday- how fast should I build up?
Answer
Congratulations on taking the first step, especially in the cold and wet we’ve had for the last few months.
Why not try keeping up with your four journeys a week until the clocks go forward, then add another day on the bike each month?
As an added incentive, put back the money you’re saving in commuting costs each day and treat yourself every now and again.
