Bicycle Dreams Review
Bicycle Dreams is the powerful true story of the Race Across America, a 3000-mile bicycle race that challenges riders to cross the country in just ten days. They must overcome searing desert heat, agonizing mountain climbs, and endless stretches of open road, all while battling extreme exhaustion and sleep deprivation. But what begins as the adventure of a lifetime is transformed in an instant when tragedy strikes the race. These voyagers discover what is truly at stake as they pedal on, praying for the deliverance only the finish line can bring. By journeys end, some are saved, others are lost, but all learn that the fuel that takes a soul toward its own true destiny is desire.
The Cyclists
The film follows eight solo riders throughout their ordeal.
Jure Robic is the defending RAAM champion and widely considered to be the greatest ultra-endurance athlete in the world.
Bob Breedlove is the veteran of the race. His motto “It’s another day in paradise” embodies the enthusiastic spirit of this cycling legend.
Catharina Berge is one of a growing number of women to take on the Race Across America.
Chris MacDonald is a writer and fitness guru who uses his background in sports psychology to give him a mental edge when faced with daunting physical obstacles.
Marko Baloh is an agricultural analyst from Slovenia. He holds several 24 hour time trial world records.
Patrick Autissier is a RAAM rookie. He was drawn to the race by the pure challenge of riding across the united states in under 12 days.
Fabio Biasiolo is an experienced RAAM veteran with three finishes in eight attempts.
Chris Hopkinson hails from Derbyshire, England. He aims to be the first rider from Great Britain to finish RAAM.
Cycling For Fitness Review Of Bicycle Dreams
I recently wrote an article about the Race Across America and was in awe of the achievements of the competitors.
A short while after my article I was approached by Cecil Ledesma asking if I would be interested in reviewing the movie.
I told him I would be honoured to offer my opinion on what seemed like a great story.
Here is my honest opinion.
Bicycle Dreams Review
In a word awesome, but one word does not do this film justice.
Whilst cycling obviously is the means of transport it is by no means the centre of attraction.
You soon get embroiled in the mental and physical struggles the riders have to endure.
Whilst not experiencing the roller coaster physical element, watching the film allows us the privilege of trying to understand what the roller coaster of emotions must be like.
The camera not only captures the intensity of it all but also the beauty of the surroundings with some fantastic footage.
‘Bicycle Dreams’ at face value seems like a film about cycling. It is much more than that.

Bicycle Dreams DVD should be on your shopping list even if you are not interested in cycling.
