Make Time In Your Busy Schedule For a Healthy Bike Ride By Following These Proven Tips

Posted on November 22, 2011 by Dave W

You will not normally find the time to go on a cycling expedition through the course of your day, and if you think that this will just happen without any effort on your part, your sadly mistaken. This is easily solved by using a date book or calender and creating a daily routine that you can follow. Be sure you can’t be interrupted by scheduling the time on your calender when people know they can’t get a hold of you, this will make it much easier to stay on track.

When you decide to go riding, keep a record of it. Do whatever you want as far as how detailed you want your records to be, maybe you want to write how long the ride was and where it was or keep it simple with just a check mark. A visual aid like this will help keep you in check and hold you accountable for any missed workouts, there is no way to lie to yourself when you have the records written right in front of you. When you do see something open on your calender it’s time to go for a ride, don’t wait just get going. The idea here is to keep up the momentum. Once you get started, you’ll notice you’ll keep going.

What could be better than having a meeting outside surrounded by the beauty of nature, with your new clients and fellow co-workers right after enjoying a bike ride through the local park. Even people who don’t ride for sport or leisure can still have a great time enjoying the beauty of nature and doing business on the go.

If you ever get really stuck and there’s no way you can find the time to get in you much needed bike ride, you could always hire professional help to take care of some of your obligations. A professional assistant is just one example of someone that could help you.

Prepare for the week ahead and you will find many areas where you can cut or save time. Take a look at your day and I’ll bet there are some things that you do on a consistent basis that aren’t the best use of your time. One example would be if dinner takes a long time to prepare, then your could prepare them over the weekend and have them ready before hand for the week ahead. Watching television and surfing on the world wide web can be huge time wasters. Try taking a calming, mind cleansing bike ride through your neighborhood instead.

Instead of gossiping around the water cooler at work and wasting that precious hour, take the same amount of time and go for a bike ride to improve your focus and concentration. This is not cheating your employer in any manner, but instead making yourself more clear headed and productive by recharging your batteries.

Anything that goes wrong with your bikes performance should be repaired right away without any hesitation. This will prevent you from having any excuses and will keep you well prepared for next time.

One cool way to getting your bike ride is on a family outing or meeting. You can have a lot of fun and get your daily dose of exercise at the same time.

Be prepared for different types of weather. Winter time can be very unforgiving, have the right equipment and clothes for these conditions and invest in a light for riding at night. With the sun beating down on you during the summer, keep a water bottle attached to your bike at all times to stay well hydrated. Most sport bikes come with a place to lock in your water bottle, so this should not be an issue.

These were just some ideas that you can start using to keep yourself cycling on a daily basis. Just remember to keep a balance in your life when putting together any type of exercise routine in your life. This will prevent the feeling of mental and physical “burn out” in your exercises. The secret is having moderation and balance.

14 year old starting boxing?

Title says it all really. I’m 14 and I’m interested in starting boxing. I’m in pretty good shape and go out running every day I’m free or I cycle. What kind of fitness is there in boxing and how tiring is it? Also, I’m a Southpaw. Does that give me any advantage over people whos stronger hand is their right? What kind of things will I be doing in my first couple of sessions and what are some good tips?

Thanks for your help,

Rory

Answer
find yourself a good trainer first. being in good shape is one thing, being in boxing shape is another. also youve got to ask yourself if you can take a pounding, do you have the heart. everyone thinks they do until theyre in the ring facing someone whos just as hungry as you are and trying to knock your block off. being a southpaw doesnt give you an advantage unless your facing someone who has never fought a lefty before. but first find yourself a boxing gym, train and spar a little, maybe fight as an amature for a few years and if you have any talent take it from there.
