Make Sure Your Child Has the Correct Cycling Helmet
Posted on November 06, 2011 by Dave W
Helmets are an important piece of safety equipment which can increase your child?s chances of surviving a crash, but naturally they cannot prevent all injuries. When you want to buy a helmet you should do that from secure, reliable company such as Rock & Rescue. We offer you a wide range of various outdoor equipment products, cycling accessories, outdoor clothing and all other high quality products. That is why we assure you that we will help you to find the best cycling helmet for your child meeting your needs.
After deciding on the type of the helmet you should decide whether it should be just cycling or a multipurpose helmet for other sports like skateboarding. Just make sure that your child doesn?t use a cycling helmet for any other sports.
Most of us think that choosing a bright colour of the helmet is just a question of fashion. Actually, bright helmets are easy to see on the road giving drivers a much better chance of seeing your child riding their bike.
Getting the right size of helmet is one of the most important factors as an ill fitting helmet will not prevent major injuries. It should fit and not be too loose or too tight. If the helmet is loose, it will shift around the head when the child moves or it will slide around. If the helmet is too tight it will be very uncomfortable.
Before choosing the helmet just make sure that it meets the safety standards. At Rock & Rescue all the helmets are approved by safety standards. Firstly, let your child choose a helmet which they like as this will probably make them wear the helmet more in comparison with the one they don?t like. Check out our range of MET kids cycle helmets, which come in a range of bright colours, have washable pads, are light and most of all are one of the safest kids helmets available. Don?t forget that safety is always of prime importance so save your child from injuries by choosing high quality cycling accessories.

How many Kcal does the average male expend cycling 70 miles over 7 hours?
I’m planning a cycling trip over a considerable distance and would like to work out how much food I need to consume in order to keep my energy levels up. Could someone recomend me a good reasource to look in or answer the above question directly?
Thank you all
Answer
I believe, and if you are a vigorous rider, a cyclist can burn up to over 1,000 calories per hour. Thus, (yet still knowing there are going to be ground grade differences) I am going to guess near around 5,000+ calories over a 7 hour period of variant grade vigorous cycling. Here’s the rule of thumb. Drink when you are not thirsty (meaning around every 15-30 minutes) Ingest on gels, bars at least every hour to 11/2 hours, and have one main meal stop-lunch, but don’t over eat where you feel weighed down to continue to on with your metric Century. I hear mixed nuts, and dried fruits as well as energy bars, and gels are a good thing to snack on. (If you are looking for things to stuff your pack with). Call a professional bike shop as well, they can give you a rough estimate of just how many calories you may burn according to your riding style as in the metric Century.
