Hypnosis In Sport Can It Work?

Posted on March 30, 2010 by Dave W

Look into my eyes, you are feeling sleepy. When you awake you will be able to cycle/run/row or whatever, faster than you have ever done before.

Is it that simple and could it work for you?

It did for me but I have a word of warning.

I would not recommend you use hypnosis as a means of injury recovery.

I have played badminton socially for many years now. We are a very competitive bunch and I have always had to work hard at my game and fitness to compete with my opponents some who are 10 years younger.

I came across a hypnosis download site and thought I would give it a go.

I downloaded a hypnosis mp3 which claimed to improve your sport.

I listened to it and sure enough I won more games than usual for a number of weeks.

Coincidence or not, I was happy in my newfound status as a better player.

At the same time, my daughter, who would have been 9 at the time, was competing in cross country running with her school.

After checking online if any harm could come to her if I let her listen to a hypnosis download I decided to let her try it.

Her previous best had been 19th out of over 100 girls. As she was one of the smallest in her year, this result was one she should be happy with.

The next race she ran after listening to the hypnosis track she came 2nd.

Admittedly it was over a different route and there were only 80 runners but still a remarkable improvement.

From that day on when she competed in the weekly school run she regularly came in the top 10.

Coincidence or not?

Use with caution!

As I said earlier, using hypnosis as a means of injury recovery is not something I would recommend.

Many years ago I injured my knee whilst playing cricket, it was to be an injury that would return later in life.

During a badminton game, my knee started to play up and the next day I could hardly walk.

This went on for a number of weeks until I had to start missing games.

I downloaded another hypnosis mp3 for injury recovery and ignored the warning not to use it as a replacement for medical treatment.

Amazingly, the next morning I virtually leapt out of bed instead of gingerly sliding out one foot at a time.

I played badminton with a new spring in my step but during the last game my knee felt as though something snapped inside.

I was forced to miss nine months of playing and three more months of slow recovery.

I have used hypnosis since to help my mind but I will never use it to heal my ailing body.

Have you got any hypnosis stories you would like to share with us?
