Can you gain muscle weight as soon as a day after a good workout?

I weighed myself last week and was 8st 13lbs. Today I got on the scale and am 9st 2lb! I’ve been eating very carefully and exercising a lot. What could account for this weight gain? I did studio cycling yesterday and my muscles in my legs/butt are still quite sore…could that indicate possible muscle weight gain? Also, I am due for my time of the month, can that add a pound or two?

I’m feeling a bit depressed to be honest because I’m really wanting to lose weight and seeing a weight GAIN on the scale this morning despite all the exercise I’ve been doing is really annoying.

Answer
it may not be that black and white . your weight can fluctuate by up to 4 pounds solely based on a poo!! and then by even more depending on how much you have eaten that day and at what time of the day it is. Try weighing yourself when you’ve woken up and been to the loo in the morning this will give you your actual body weight. Unfortunately as do not know your age i cannot tell if you are slim or not but by the weights you said i would imagine that you are lean. and as you become leaner and leaner you will notice gains in weight more frequently due to muscle gains from exercise. generally speaking being near the time of your period may add a little mass from fluids building up.

also bear in mind that weight is not the most accurate gage for healthiness i advise that you measure areas like your butt, thighs, arms, stomach etc, on a weekly basis and use your mirror it is a much more rewarding weigh of weight loss as you see the results
