Hay Fever – It’s Not To Be Sneezed At!

Posted on May 28, 2010 by Dave W

Well it is if you are a sufferer.

If you do suffer with hay fever some of you will already be feeling the effects of tree pollen.

I personally suffer with grass pollen which is just around the corner.

When I was a kid I suffered so much I had to be sent home from school on a few occasions.

Unfortunately the way home was past some fields that produced some serious pollen that made things worse.

Christine, my wife is also a sufferer (stop it, I mean hay fever not because she’s married to me).

She starts earlier than I do and her way of dealing with it is to start taking tablets before it starts so as to build up a resistance to it.

I prefer to wait to see how bad it is each year and deal with it as and when.

Being a member of the cycling fraternity, we are exposed to more pollen than our couch potato counterparts.

Did you know there are natural ways to ease the sniffles?

If your symptoms are mild you could try eating more fruit and vegetables containing Quercetin, a super-nutrient found in cherries, berries and apples and in vegetables such as broccoli, kale and onions.

Quercetin is part of a group of plant chemicals which inhibit the release of histamine, hence anti-histamine drugs relieving hay fever symptoms.

So let’s all get fruity and stop those sniffles, it is worth a try.

How do you relieve your hay fever symptoms? Please let us know in the comments.

Keep Moving
