Cycling On Holiday
Posted on July 30, 2010 by Dave W
When I go on holiday I don’t usually do too much exercise other than the usual playing around on the beach or swimming in the pool.
I just got back from a week in Lanzarote and managed to get an hours bike ride on five of the seven days.
I also played tennis and walked for miles.
The reason for all this activity is that the house we stayed at in Costa Teguise had everything provided.
The house belongs to a friend of my wife’s and is available for hire through holidaylettings.co.uk.
We had just unpacked and I was having a look around and found a bike, tennis rackets, fishing tackle and stuff for the pool and beach for all ages.
So first things most mornings before the sun became too hot, I set off exploring the region.
Along the promenade there are a number of exercise machines and I even stopped once or twice to try them out.
The complex we stayed at is called El Palmeral and it is essentially a private complex and as such was not full of noisy party animals.
The walking was down to the fact that the complex is around 30 minutes walk to the main centre of Costa Teguise and having two children to entertain we did this each night.
The place is ideally an home from home and you wouldn’t have to leave the complex very much if you didn’t want to.
Although this post was not intended to be a review of the place, I enjoyed it so much I thought I should mention it.
My next years holiday is already booked for the ‘Norfolk Broads’ cruising along the rivers for a week, hence the link to Hoseasons on the right.
I know I won’t be doing any cycling then as I will be doing a lot of fishing, one of my passions from yesteryear.

Maybe next time you can try one of the mountain bike tracks in Lanzarote, there are routes to and from Costa Teguise and mainly off road along dirt tracks

Hi Jules
That sounds like a good idea. Where can I find details of the routes?
