Better Body and Heart Health Over Forty Over Fifty And More

Posted on July 23, 2011 by Dave W

Heart health will decrease as we get older, worsened if we do not attempt to eat properly. Even if we do try to eat the best quality foods, some nutritional details may get left out of our diet routines.

Much nutrition for optimum heart function is found in good quality foods easily obtainable, cooked, and assimilated. If there is a shortfall for your particular nutrition needs, a whole food-based supplement often addresses a deficiency in your body chemistry, thereby getting you farther towards your best health.

Once in a while a lifestyle change may be needed, such as adding exercise, or changing exercises. Especially in the over 40 plus years, you want to stay strong, without endangering the health of your joints. Following are some tips.

Healthy Omega 3 Oils, Or Fatty Acids And What They Mean For Your Health

You may have heard of the Mediterranean Diet and how healthy it is for your cardio-vascular system (heart, veins and arteries). Primarily the most often component in this diet that is talked about is Olive Oil. Olive Oil is a 3-6-9 oil, meaning that it provides those particular types of fat for our system.

While omega 6 oils, or saturated fats (especially from red meat) have gotten a bad reputation, for raising blood cholesterol levels and clogging arteries, omega 6 oils are not bad for us. It is the balance of oils that matter in maintaining a healthy cardio-vascular system.

Other examples of the best oils to ingest are flaxseed oil, and eating cold water wild salmon, tuna and mackerel, or purified fish oils as supplements.

What Is The Big Deal About Grass Fed Beef?

I mention this now, as beef is an excellent source of B Complex vitamins, B12, protein and with lean cuts, a reasonable amount of saturated omega 6 fats.

However, the advantage of choosing grass fed beef for your meals, is that grass fed animals have a balance of omega 6 and omega 3 fats in their meat, and in their milk. Therefore, you are getting all the other benefits from lean meats and adding some extra omega 3 fatty acids to contribute to your heart health.

While grass fed beef was once expensive and hard to find, it is now commonly stocked in many markets and the prices have come down considerably.

How Can Strengthening Your Leg Back and Hip Muscles Help Your Heart?

While for the past thirty or more years cardio exercise (walking, jogging, running) has been touted as the ideal exercise for heart strength. Yet, there is no scientific basis for this. When I took a personal certified trainer course, I loved all the information I was given, except for this cardio issue.

The principle is, your body gets used to a certain amount and you can only get stronger by adding duration and intensity. How would I tell a seventy-five year old couple that they have to keep increasing the duration of their “cardio” (a meaningless term) workout every single week. How long does it take until all you are doing is walking/jogging/running more? It’s a full time job!

This problem is solved by learning an exercise program that divides the challenges between an intense muscle activity (such as weight lifting or using a stationary bike with intense resistance) and a less intense all-out exertion, which with a bike, would be decreasing the intensity of the resistance in the pedals, but cycling as fast as you can, to the point of breathlessness, for a short time, maybe 90 seconds.

This acceleration of your heart muscle, and lungs, in a controlled manner, builds strength and increases your lung capacity. It also loads up the challenges in the large muscle groups in your legs, hips and core area. And when you have to suddenly “run for the bus” or exert yourself in another unexpected fashion, the strength in your large muscle groups will decrease the need for your heart to work so hard.

Another benefit of this type of workout is that it takes about 12 minutes to run through, once you have learned it and understand it. Visit us to take a look at this training in more depth if you are interested in boosting your heart health.

whats the best diet i can do to lose a stone?

i swim once a week and cycle about 3 times… and walk everywhere, as well as doing floor excercises. but although doing all this helps me maintain my fitness level, im not losing any weight. so i want to diet aswell. so what sort of thing should i eat for lunch etc? any tips? thankyou…

Answer
go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don’t eat wheat then you don’t eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don’t eat junk food, and you don’t eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans.
